I have neglected my blog for a couple weeks now, but I have lots of things to post! I’ve been doing my 52 week project, but have neglected to post the pictures. I have sessions to blog and even found sessions from last year that I never blogged. I’m a little better about posting sneak peeks on facebook, so head over and “like” my facebook page. I’m going to try and play catch up, but to keep things current, I’m going to post my latest “session” which happens to be of my son. He’s about to turn 5 next month and start Kindergarten in the fall.

Many people have said he looks like he cooperates so well and loves to have his picture taken. Rest assured this is not the case! He is the reason I have so many tricks up my sleeve to work with kids. Nothing works for very long for him, and if you don’t believe me, here is what a lot of my pictures look like. Though this is what makes kids one of my favorite subjects to photograph. They are so natural and fun and definitely keep me on my toes!

This last one is my 12/52 entry for Backlight, though technically it’s back-side lit.

It’s not often that I get time alone with my youngest and just let him play and goof off. We usually have an activity planned, errands to run, or something keeping us from just hanging out and doing whatever he wants. A few days ago we had a “just Adam day” and he wanted to play outside and ride his bike and plasma car. It was really bright outside, not a time I like to photograph because the sun is really harsh. But I wanted to document this silly guy and all the fun he was having. Of course at the end you can see he had enough of my camera. I’m surprised he put up with it as long as he did!

The first photo and last photo are also my 52 week project photos for 7/52 depth of field (f1.8) and 8/52 shutterspeed (1/2500).

Well I’ve been doing my 52 week project, but I haven’t blogged them, so here is my catch up post. I have my taxes to work on, so of course I cleaned my car today and now I’m choosing to catch up on blogging. Ahh reminds me of college when I would have to clean my room before I could sit down and study for a midterm.

4/52 Lines I was out of town (most of January and half of February in fact), and running short on time to finish my photo for the week. If I had to do it over again I would have waited until lighting was better because the pool water is distracting.

5/52 Unusual perspective I don’t normally shoot from below in order to avoid an “up the nose shot”, but I decided to give it go to see if I could make it work.

6/52 Love At first I was just going to take a picture of the heart, but I decided to see if I could get my kids to participate. It’s like herding cats to get both of the kids to be in a picture together. They know all my tricks and silly jokes. Instead of creating turmoil, I skipped the wardrobe change and left the bits of goldfish in their teeth. I love it, but it’s probably “mommy goggles”.

This week’s theme is “feet”. Every time I tackle one of these themes I keep thinking it would be so much easier if I had a macro lens. Oh how I miss my macro lens. However my nifty fifty gets the job with a creative spin on the theme. That’s my son measuring himself on our homemade growth chart. It’s something pretty cool and I’ve been meaning to document. My husband made the chalkboard “ruler” himself. As you can see Ethan hasn’t grown much since the last time I measured.
