Last month, my family went hiking to explore some new areas. We found tadpoles, steep hills to climb, cool rocks to collect, and poison oak. Aside from the latter, it was heaven for my two boys. However, we probably won’t be going back since we didn’t manage to steer clear of the poison oak. Well, at least the tasmanian devil-like five year old didn’t. Ooops! But the rest of us escaped without any reactions…even my husband who is super sensitive to it (almost a magnet for the stuff). And I have some lovely pictures to remember it all. In fact, I think that’s poison oak in the background of the picture on the right.

Today was the first day of school, and I still can’t believe I have a kindergartner. So many changes and exciting things are in store for my little guy…and me! Aside from eating with Grandparents, he has never been away from me for a meal. I had a hard time with that today, but he brought back an empty lunch bag, so I don’t think it bothered him. Here are a few snaps of his first day and his class.

I wanted to share a cool idea I found to document each school year. I had him write his name and age and each year I’ll do the same in the same spot on the first day of school. It will be a great way to see the progression in his handwriting and his growth (with the dry erase board as a reference). So here is the Kindergarten shot.

My youngest recently turned three. I look at him and still think he’s a baby. I can’t believe he’s entering the terrible threes growing up so fast. He’ll be starting preschool in a few weeks and before I know he’ll be off to college. To celebrate the occasion, I wanted to have a pool party, but somehow Grandma’s pool turned GREEN! So instead of a birthday party we just celebrated at home with a couple of his close buddies. Here is my little dude with his homemade ice cream cake. (If you need a quick, easy, impressive looking, delicious cake, this is really fool-proof!)

I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy 4th! So far it has been a hot hot weekend, but filled with friends, pool time, and lots of fun. We have already seen one fireworks show and look forward to seeing another tonight. Stay cool!

I have the mini van which is requirement one. Having two boys, a husband that love soccer, a dog that owns a Beckham jersey as well as a matching soccer jersey from my husband’s old adult league, it was only a matter of time before I was a full fledged soccer mom, right? I’ve embraced it. It’s actually really exciting to watch a bunch of 4 and 5 year olds swarm around the ball like bees in their matching uniforms. I also had lots of fun doing some sports photography during his games.

My kiddo is number 7, with his tongue hanging out. If you asked him what the best part of soccer was he would say, “the end of the game when you get juice boxes and run through the tunnel.”
